The 2010 Flag Football tournament has been canceled. Following the Summer Games, the BSG staff will revisit with organizers to make all the necessary changes to the event in an attempt to make it more viable in the future. If you’d like to be a part of the process, please contact the Bay State Games after August 1.

COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS

- A passing only, no contact tournament.
- All teams play a minimum of three preliminary round games.
- All participants receive T-shirts, the top three teams in each division get medals and the gold medal team in each division receive Bay State Games jackets.

 
DIVISIONS

High School: 9th, 10th & 11th Grade as of the 2009-10 school year.
Within this division there WILL NOT be any further separation by grade or skill level. Everyone will compete together in the same division.

 
ELIGIBILITY
To qualify for a region, an athlete must be ONE of the following:
- A full-time Massachusetts resident at least 30 days prior to first day of tournament.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in Massachusetts.
 
**As long as one of the above requirements is met by each participant, a team is eligible to carry any player from any high school/town. In other words, a team DOES NOT have to consist of players from just one high school football team.**
RULES

- Field will be 50yds by 50yds not including 10 yard end zones.
- Ball starts on the 40 yard line.
- Teams have four downs to get to 20 yard line for a 1st down then 4 downs to score.
- THIS IS A NO CONTACT TOURNAMENT. No hitting, blocking or bumping.
- QB has four seconds to release ball.
- Touchdowns are 7 points. No extra points.
- No player can run with the ball. Ball can be run by handoff or pitch.
- Teams can consist of up to 12 players with 7 players on the field at one time and 5 substitutes.

FORMAT

- There are no qualifiers or tryouts.
- All athletes enter as a pre-existing team.
- More than 1 team from the same high school may enter the tournament.
- The first 24 teams to register will be accepted.
- Teams will be assigned to pools and play in their pool for a minimum of three games. At the end of pool play, pool winners will advance to quarter finals, semi finals and finals.
- Games played in two 15 minute halves.

 
ENTRY FEE

$300 per team           

 
AWARDS
- Participants receive an official Summer Games T-shirt.
- Medals are awarded to the top three teams.  
- Award jackets are presented to the gold medal team.
 
ENTRY DEADLINE

Applications accepted on a first come, first served basis until all 24 slots have been filled or by Friday, June 25. Applications received after a division is full will be refunded.

 
REGISTRATION
To reserve a spot in the tournament, fill out the form below and mail to the Bay State Games with a $300 entry fee.  All entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.  Make checks payable to the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation (MASF).  Within ten days, team captains will receive a confirmation letter and additional tournament information.
