NEW FOR 2011 |
- The 2011 Bay State Games Boys Ice Hockey tryouts and tournament will be a part of the selection process for the Northeast High School Hockey Showcase and the Scouting Camp for the Massachusetts Team that will play at the Bauer NIT Tournament in Minnesota.
- For the convenience of all participants, the boys tournament has been consolidated to 4 days with one double-header being played by each team. |

DIVISIONS |
|
Boys Scholastic: Male athletes must be in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade as of the 2010-11 academic years. Athletes must be under the age of 19 as of June 1, 2011.
Girls Scholastic: Female athletes must be in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade as of the 2010-11 academic years. Athletes must be under the age of 19 as of June 1, 2011.
*The number of 12th graders that can be selected for a Girls' final team will be limited to a TOTAL of 5 per team, regardless of school. There is no limit to the number that can tryout. |

ELIGIBILITY |
An athlete must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- A full-time resident within the region for 30 days prior to first day of tryouts.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in the region. |

Athletes who are eligible for multiple regions may only tryout for one team. |

FORMAT |
Boys Scholastic
- On the day of the tournament when a team is scheduled for a single game, that game will be played with three 20 minute periods. On the day that a team is playing a doubleheader, its second game will consist of two 25 minute periods.
- All teams play a minimum of 5 games and a maximum of 6 games.
Girls Scholastic
- All games consist of three 20 minute periods with an ice-make during the second intermission only.
- All teams play 4 games. |

TRYOUT RULES |
- A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of four (4) tryouts will be held between June 1-15.
- Athletes must participate in a minimum of two (2) tryouts to be considered for the team. Bay State Games coaches do not have the authority to waive the two-tryout rule. Waivers can only be granted by the Director of Operations and/or the Executive Director of the Bay State Games if participation numbers warrant. |
If you cannot attend the first tryout date listed on the website, contact your region’s coach for additional tryouts. Athletes are responsible for getting tryout info, individual athletes will not be contacted with their tryout information. Athletes are also responsible for reading team sport rules in the general information section. |
ENTRY DEADLINE |
Athletes are encouraged to pre-register by May 27, 2011. However, on-site registration at the first tryout will also be accepted. |
