COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS |
- Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
- Competition is hosted at Blodgett Pool on the campus of Harvard University. |

DIVISIONS |
|
Junior: Age 10–12*
Scholastic: Age 13–15
Open: Age 16–18
- Male and female divisions.
- All ages are as of June 5, 2010.
*10 year olds are not eligible to swim 800 free.

ELIGIBILITY |
To qualify for a region, an athlete must be ONE of the following:
- A full-time resident within the region for 30 days prior to first day of tryouts.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in the region.

A registered member of a Swimming club in Massachusetts. The club must be your exclusive “contact” with the sport. Athletes using the club membership for eligibility may not be a member of a non-Massachusetts club. |

RULES |
- No membership to any swim organization is required.

US Swimming rules will apply at the qualifiers and finals.

US Swimming officials will be used at all meets.

If you are a member of US Swimming, be sure to your middle initial and date of birth on your application form so you can be properly identified with USS.

The Bay State Games Swimming Qualifier meets are US SWIMMING APPROVED MEETS. US Swimming members who compete in the Bay State Games will have their times submitted to the SWIMS database provided that they supply all the required information on the request form that will be available at the registration table. (BEFORE the meet) There will be a fee of $1.50 for each event that is requested to be entered into the SWIMS database. Checks should be made payable to New England Swimming. The 2010 Bay State Games Swimming Finals will be observed swims, allowing US Swimming members to submit their times to the SWIMS database. As an observed swim, the individual swimmer will be responsible for paying a $1.50 processing fee for each event time he or she wishes to submit. These processing fees will be collected before the meet, at the Finals. COURSE |
- All qualifying races will be in short course yards. Finals will be in long course meters.
- Seeding for the finals will be based on times achieved at the qualifiers.

Event codes listed below are in meters. The 400 free will be a 500 free at the qualifier. The 800 free will be a 1,000 free at the qualifier. |

Listed below are all events offered. Athletes may enter a maximum of four (4) events.
All participants are asked to provide events and seed times on their mail-in or online registration form. Athletes using the mail in form should write in event and seed time in the Event/ Division code section of the paper application. Athletes registering on line should have their event and seed time information ready before they log on to register. |

FORMAT |
Junior, Scholastic & Open athletes must attend a regional qualifier. The top four (4) finishers at each qualifier in each division and event will advance to the finals.
ATHLETES MUST SWIM IN THEIR AGE GROUP. THEY CANNOT MOVE UP.

ENTRY FEES |
Tryout fee: $20
Finalist fee: $25 (for those who qualify)

AWARDS |
- All athletes will receive an official Bay State Summer Games T-shirt and swim cap.

Medals will be awarded to top 3 in each division and event.
- Bay State Games jackets will be distributed to the top 4 in each division and event.
Athletes who win more than one gold medal will only receive one jacket.

REGIONAL QUALIFYING MEETS |
| Due to facility scheduling conflicts, the regional qualifiers are on multiple weekends. Please check the specific dates below for your region. Athletes can only attend the qualifier for which they meet the eligibility requirements. Check the Town Codes to find which qualifier you should attend. |
