Each year, the centerpiece of the Bay State Winter Games figure skating competition at Williams College is the Bay State Skate Figure Skating Show. The 2010 Bay State Skate features the talent of New England Regional and District 1 medalists from the USFSA and ISI ranks, as well as Winter Games medal winners.
It has become a custom to kick off the show with a march of the athletes into the Williams College Rink. Leading the procession will be the medal winners from all of Friday and Saturday’s Winter Games events.
It is also a tradition for the show performers to pass a lit torch at the end of the show as a sign of the shared Olympic spirit amongst the athletes.
This year’s show will be hosted by WNAW radio personality Mike Garland, and the 2008 Berkshire Idol winner, Kristina Clark, will sing the National Anthem.
MIKE GARLAND
Bay State Skate Show Emcee

Mike will emcee the Bay State Skate for the first time this year, but has been a longtime supporter of the Winter Games.
Each day he can be heard on The Morning Show on WNAW 1230-AM in North Adams. Annually, Mike conducts an interview with Bay State Games Executive Director Kevin Cummings which is viewed as the “State of the Union” address on the current condition of the Winter Games.
Mike is a native of Philadelphia, PA, but has been living in North Adams for over a decade and has become a fixture in the community as he is very active in charity and fund-raising events.
KRISTINA CLARK
National Anthem Singer
Kristina will be performing the National Anthem for the second consecutive year at the Bay State Skate.
Kristina is a classically trained artist who grew up in Auburn, NY. She has competed in competitions in Syracuse, NY, winning the 2006 Central New York Idol contest, and recently got word she is the Forever Reigning Central NY Idol, as the competition has been discontinued. She also won the 2006 Star Quest Competition in Syracuse, which gave her the opportunity to compete in the Talent Quest National Singing and Performance contest in Laughlin, Nevada. She took 8th place in the pop category. In 2007, she returned to the National stage in Laughlin, taking 6th place out of 140 females. In 2008, Kristina was crowned the Berkshire Idol. |
